There were a lot of loan companies courting us, with more or less aggression. Quicken Loans was aggressive, but seemed willing from the start to drop their effort if we weren't interested. They seemed to offer competitive rates. They promised a lot in these extraordinarily difficult economic times. Other companies bad-mouthed Quicken. Some told me they'd renig on promises up to the last minute. I checked a mortgage company complaint site. Sure enough there was an unending list of complaints against Quicken. But then I checked these very same sites that were warning me about Quicken. They each had their own laundry list of complainers! I read the complaints about Quicken more closely. They were virtually all a bunch of whiners that didn't pay attention to what Quicken was actually promising. Quicken didn't make a single promise to me that they didn't deliver on. From start to finish, things went as quickly and smoothly as could be imagined. It was actually unbelievable, considering what other loan companies were telling me. I'm convinced that if you're honest with them, they'll get you the best deal you're qualified for as quickly as possible. They even went out of their way to straighten out a rather severe error that has been on my credit record for 15 years.
