Financing and re-financing a home can be dreadful. People come at you with hands open and mouths full of fast talk and jargon. I went online for my refinancing in part for that reason: It leveled the playing field a bit. I discovered Quicken loans, did my research, and felt they would be trustworthy and reliable. It turns out that the experience couldn't have been better or simpler. Quicken staff were professional in all respects: they were forthright about my options and costs, they didn't badger me with calls and pitches, and when I finally did commit to the refinancing, someone was always available to answer questions, etc. The costs were in line, for the most part. I suspect there were junk fees incorporated into the cost, but there was nothing obvious to me. The closing was a piece of cake. I had a copy of the contract to study three days before the close, so I was ready to sign when the time came. All-in-all, I would recommend Quicken, especially if you've had difficult experiences in the past.
