We worked with three lenders on this loan. I contacted two at first, one through Lending Tree and one through a local bank. The one from the local bank told us within days that he couldn't get the loan we wanted. The one we got through Lending Tree told us he could close in just a few days. This dragged out with various excuses, each sounding more unlikely than the last. At this point we contacted Quicken Loans. With the same information as given to the other two lenders, our Quicken Loans rep said he could do the loan we wanted. We received a commitment within days and the loan closed quickly and smoothly, with no surprises, no excuses, no problems. The last close date promised by the other lender came and went (I hadn't told him we no longer wanted to deal with him) without our even hearing from him again. We didn't care, because we'd already closed with Quicken Loans.
